Homemade natural gummies

I’m all about everything in moderation but sometimes when it comes to lollies you want a healthier option or at the least one with less sugar in it; especially if you’re like me and have a sweet tooth. These homemade natural gummies are simple to make, and use natural flavours from ingredients like pureed fruit or vanilla extract.

I’ve gotta give you a heads up; if you are anticipating these gummies to be super sweet like normal lollies you’ll be disappointed. If that’s the case, then I would highly recommend to use a natural stevia-based sweetener, maple syrup or regular sugar instead, if you’re happy to use it. At least you will know they have been freshly made with no added preservatives, colours or other nasties so you’ll still be better off!

  • 1 cup liquid (your choice of milk)
  • 3-4 tsp gelatine powder
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • 1/2 cup pureed fruit (I used frozen blueberries)
  • 1/2 cup liquid (your choice of milk, water or juice)
  • 3-4 tsp gelatine powder
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Choose whether you want to make milk gummies or fruity gummies, place all ingredients in a saucepan and stir mixture over a low heat until gelatine has dissolved and all ingredients are combined. Three teaspoons of gelatin powder will result in fairly firm gummies while four teaspoons will result in very firm ones.

Fill silicone molds with mixture then place in fridge and allow to set overnight.

TIP: For the fruity gummies, fresh or frozen fruit should be fine though some fruits may set better than others; have a play around and experiment to find out what works best (I used kiwifruit the first time I made these and it turned out terrible! You may need to alter the gelatin amount).

You might also like to add extras such as powdered spirulina, cinnamon or cacao. If you wish to add probiotics, you’ll need to allow the mixture to cool a little before mixing it in.
